Some Rainey kids may one day gain fame for the way in which they change the world. Most will make their contribution in less public ways. But Rainey students do change their path in the world. They do stay in school. They do go to college. They do exit the community of society’s takers and do enter the world of society’s contributors.

The best part of Rainey is the people, their history, their dedication. Their stories are told in photos on the walls – five and six-year-old kids who, today, are in medical school, or are teachers, or parents raising good kids.

They are “just kids,” born into economically disadvantaged families and resource-poor neighborhoods. Many of us don’t have contact with them in our daily lives, but we know they are there and the plight they face.
