Leadership Transition at Rainey Institute

A Heartfelt Farewell to Dr. Jennifer Harris: Celebrating Eight Years of Transformational Leadership

It is with deep gratitude that we announce Dr. Jennifer Harris will be stepping down on July 15th from her role as Executive Director of Rainey Institute after almost eight years of outstanding leadership.

Since joining the organization, Dr. Harris has guided Rainey through a period of tremendous growth and transformation. Her steady leadership during the COVID-19 shutdown and the thoughtful restructuring of our reopening allowed Rainey to continue serving our students and families during unprecedented challenges. She strengthened the organization by building critical structures, improving efficiency through new systems and policies, and laying a foundation that will benefit Rainey for years to come.

A Legacy of Vision and Impact

Among her many accomplishments, Dr. Harris envisioned and successfully led the expansion to Rainey Institute’s west-side location at the Pivot Center for Art, Dance, and Expression, including a major capital campaign that made the project possible. She also championed accessibility, ensuring all children had access to arts education regardless of financial circumstances through subsidized tuition, fundraising, and incorporating third-party payments such as Ohio ACE.

Under her leadership, Rainey significantly expanded early childhood and youth development programs while implementing strategic changes to qualify for ODJFS licensure—a critical step that will allow eligible families to use out-of-school time county vouchers for tuition.

A Leader Who Believed in Partnership

Dr. Harris deeply believed in the power of collaboration, working with other arts organizations and nonprofits to advance the mission of arts education and extend its reach throughout the community. Her professional acumen, visionary leadership, and unwavering dedication to Rainey’s students and families have left an indelible mark on our organization and the broader community.
