Our Music Programs
Music inspires us. Music challenges us.
Music makes us.
A fundamental part of life, music positively impacts individuals of all ages. From a toddler learning to walk to an elderly person in a wheelchair, music brings joy, fulfillment, and wonder to our lives. This is why Rainey Institute provides music programs to both the young and the old and why we use music as a catalyst to cultivate social and emotional growth. Our offerings include the following programs:
El Sistema@Rainey’s mastery-based orchestral instruction makes music fun while inspiring focus and teamwork. Children study violin, viola, cello, or double bass through 90 minutes of daily orchestra classes. Instruments are provided. Professional musicians and classically-trained teaching artists provide instruction and students perform monthly concerts for friends, family and the community.
Private Music Lessons
Learn to sing or play piano, guitar, drums, violin, viola, cello, bass, guitar, saxophone, clarinet, trumpet, or harp through our 30 minutes private instruction. Rainey Institute’s teaching artists teach lessons weekdays and weekends.
Music Understanding Group Class
Learn to read musical notes and play music through rhythm and sound exercises!
Music Play Group Class
In small groups, children learn to recognize musical phrases and develop body coordination through a diverse collection of songs, chants, and movement activities. Children (and caregivers) will be physically and musically engaged through creative and fun experiences while beginning their life-long musical journey.
I’ve been a professional musician for many years. I’ve lived and traveled all over this country and have gained a wealth of knowledge and experience. Rainey has afforded me the opportunity to pass on this legacy to the next generation of young people. “— Skip Edwards, Rainey Teaching Artist
